THE AGONY IN THE GARDEN

FRUIT: CONTRITION

Lord, may hardship, sorrow, and distress pass over me. However, like Jesus, give me the strength to follow Your Will no matter where it may take me. May I remember that You never give anyone more challenges then he can handle

Heavenly Mother, I pray that I always make time for prayer as Jesus did in the Garden of Gesthemene.

Heavenly Mother, I pray that my prayers are focused and earnest, not mindless repetition.

Heavenly Mother, I pray for the faith and steadfastness not to give up prayer when times are tough.

Heavenly Mother, I pray for trust in God's Will for me, even if I don't understand it or it is difficult to follow.

Heavenly Mother, I pray for those who do not pray or believe in the fruitfulness of prayer.

Heavenly Mother, I pray for the stillness of mind and body to listen to God through prayer.

Heavenly Mother, I pray for faith that God will see me through the difficult times in my life.

Heavenly Mother, help me have patience for God's plan for me to manifest itself.

Heavenly Mother, I pray that God spares me difficulty in my life but, if not possible, that I find the strength to imitate Jesus by accepting God’s Will.

Heavenly Mother, I pray that I make time for earnest prayer before Jesus in Eucharistic adoration.

Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and He said to His disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” (Matthew 26:36)

He took along Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to feel sorrow and distress. (Matthew 26:37)

Then He said to them, “My soul is sorrowful even to death. Remain here and keep watch with me.” (Matthew 26:38)

He advanced a little and fell prostrate in prayer, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; yet, not as I will, but as You will.” (Matthew 26:39)

When He returned to His disciples He found them asleep. He said to Peter, “So you could not keep watch with me for one hour? (Matthew 26:40)

“Watch and pray that you may not undergo the test. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Matthew 26:41)

Withdrawing a second time, He prayed again, “My Father, if it is not possible that this cup pass without my drinking it, Your Will be done!” (Matthew 26:42)

Then He returned once more and found them asleep, for they could not keep their eyes open. (Matthew 26:43)

He left them and withdrew again and prayed a third time, saying the same thing again. (Matthew 26:44)

Then He returned to His disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and taking your rest? Behold, the hour is at hand when the Son of Man is to be handed over to sinners. (Matthew 26:45)
