THE FINDING IN THE TEMPLE

FRUIT: PIETY

Lord, may I always look for You in my prayers, actions, words, and thoughts. May everything I do be in an effort to move into a deeper communion and friendship with You. May the thought of losing Your grace strengthen me in resisting the temptation to sin.

Mother Mary, I pray that I make the time to periodically examine my conscience in prayer.

Mother Mary, I pray that I make time to regularly receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation and resolve not to commit the same sins again.

Mother Mary, I pray that I have the strength to make adjustments in my life to better live according to God’s will.

Mother Mary, I pray for the return of those who have wandered far from God’s grace.

Mother Mary, I pray for those who are undertaking the difficult path of redemptive suffering for their sins.

Mother Mary, I pray that I listen to God’s truth no matter who it is from.

Mother Mary, I pray that our Church leaders follow and faithfully exercise the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Mother Mary, I pray for those who have not gone to confession in a long time, that they may find the courage and humility to become fully united with God through the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Mother Mary, I pray that I look towards my local parish community as a way of finding Jesus in “His father’s house.”

Mother Mary, I pray that I imitate Jesus’ obedience to God by obeying the precepts of the Catholic faith.

Each year His parents went to Jerusalem for the feast of Passover, and when He was twelve years old, they went up according to festival custom. (Luke 2:41-42)

After they had completed its days, as they were returning, the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, but His parents did not know it. (Luke 2:43)

Thinking that He was in the caravan, they journeyed for a day and looked for Him among their relatives and acquaintances, but not finding Him, they returned to Jerusalem to look for Him. (Luke 2:44-45)

After three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions, (Luke 2:46)

And all who heard Him were astounded at His understanding and His answers. (Luke 2:47)

When His parents saw Him, they were astonished, and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You done this to us?” (Luke 2:48)

“Your father and I have been looking for You with great anxiety.” (Luke 2:48)

And He said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” (Luke 2:49)

But they did not understand what He said to them. He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them; (Luke 2:50-51)

And His mother kept all these things in Her heart. And Jesus advanced [in] wisdom and age and favor before God and man. (Luke 2:51-52)
