I have other charitable commitments, but in California the dollar does not go very far, and even then the needy are not starving.
Reently there was news that a few hundred dollars could actually buy an acre of land that could sustain a small family.
I am still waiting to hear more about Catholic Kiva.

Peter, I'll try to answer your questions to the best of my ability. I'm sure there are probably more definitive answers out there, but here has been my experience.

Yes, the website can be difficult to navigate. However, you do get updates and you can see your stats. You can see how much your current loans have been repaid and what your overall lending/repayment history has been. Some borrowers will also give status updates through kiva.

As the loans are repaid, the money is put back into your account. So you do not have to wait for 100% repayment.

To register, just select the "register" option in the top menu bar. Here's the link to go directly to the registration page:
https://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=register

You add funds via paypal, but you can pay through paypal with a credit card. Extracted funds go back to your paypal account.

Tell me more about Kiva.
I still find the website difficult to access and surf.
Updates + reports on success or failure of client borrower.
As + when loans are repayed do they get immediately deposited to lender accounts or only at the end of repayment of 100% or less than 100%?
When and how does a loan get declared closed as to fully or only partially repayed.

How to open and to fund a Kiva account.
How to extract funds from a Kiva account.
